Mr. Subodh Pandey is currently Vice President Technology and R&D, Tata Steel Ltd.

Mr Pandey joined Tata Steel as a Graduate Engineer Trainee in 1992 and assumed various roles in the Company in the areas of Operations; Marketing & Sales; Profit Centre; Ferro Alloys & Minerals and Improvement Groups. Previously, he was Vice President Operations TSM, NMB & Graphene.

Mr Pandey played a key role in the transformation of Tata Steel BSL, (Formerly known as Bhushan Steel Limited).

Assuming responsibility of Tata Steel BSL as the Chief Operating Officer on Sep 1, 2018, he led from the front by ramping up operations, reducing cost through operational efficiency and improving reliability of the operations. This is probably the first company under Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) to turnaround in a short span of 3 years.

Prior to moving to Tata Steel BSL, Mr. Pandey was the Executive-in-Charge of Tubes SBU, Tata Steel. Initiating digital transformation journey of the division, he piloted and scaled up various activities in the division in the areas of maintenance, warehousing, logistics, marketing & sales, safety, etc.

Post Merger of Tata Steel BSL & Tata Steel Limited in November 2021, Mr Pandey was appointed as Vice President Operations TSM (Tata Steel Meramandali). In April 2023, he was given additional responsibility of NMB & Graphene division.

Mr Subodh Pandey is B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT-Kanpur and Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He has also completed CEDEP General Management Programme at INSEAD. He joined Tata Steel Jamshedpur as a Graduate Trainee in the year 1992.

Mr. Pandey is the Chairman of various subsidiary companies of Tata Steel viz. Tata Steel Advanced Materials Limited; Tata Steel TABB Limited; Ceramat Private Ltd. He is also on the Board of TM International Logistics Ltd.

He is passionate about Total Quality Management and has contributed immensely to the Deming journey at Tata Steel.
